WELCOME to the SHS PEER FACILITATORS WEBPAGE! Here you will find information about what we do, when our meetings and events are, helpful information for life and links to other resources! TAKE SOME TIME TO LOOK AROUND and thanks for stopping by!

PEER FACILITATORS ARE:

A select group of students who are trained in listening, communication and conflict resolution skills. They are educated about important topics that affect young people and are bound by confidentiality (keep things private unless someone is in danger).

THE GOALS OF OUR PROGRAM:

  • To provide support, by listening, to students who are struggling with issues that are interrupting their daily lives.
  • To refer students with serious issues or concerns to adults who can further assist them.
  • To assist in the mediation of peer conflicts.
  • To serve as leaders in the school community and representatives of the student body.
  • To provide support in the event of a school or community crisis situation.
  • To help educate the SHS community on important topics relevant to adolescent health.
  • To organize and host events that promote connectedness in the school community.
  • To organize and host events that promote education and self-awareness.

We have different events almost every month of the school year (CHECK OUT RECENT AND UPCOMING EVENTS) and all year long we provide:

    • PEERING/Listening to students
    • PEER CONFLICT MEDIATION
    • Mentoring to underclassmen/ETR students
